Young women after God's own heart

I've mentioned before that I'm co-leading a small group for some middle school girls from our church. I am learning so much from these young women--we have meaningful conversations and a lot of laughter!
After a long hiatus from being involved in "official" church ministry, it's been wonderful to be part of this group. Isn't it true that when we give we receive much in return?

This post brings back great memories for me. I led a Jr. High small group years back. They are Jrs. in college now! It was a fun time and one of the girls became like a sister to me, she was even a bridesmaid in my wedding. I hope it continue to goes well for you!

It is important to have these group settings. My daughter attends a weekly youngwomens group through our church. They learn about seting goals. And do so many creative things. Learning good homemaking skills, learning about God. The girls really love each other.

I love that you love doing this! And I love junior high girls too. It's been a long time since I've worked with that age, but when I did I thought they were so sweet!

Great photo! :) I'm so glad that you are part of this group ~ I'm sure they are learning as well and will have fond memories of these times together. Love you, Mom

That is true you do get so much in return. I was reluctant to take on any roles in our church when I came back and yet I have them now and I do get so much from it! ~smile~

May God bless you as you continue His work with these young ladies!

So true that you receive so much in return! I love that you are working with middle school aged girls. That is a tough age and many don't have the patients to work with them.

I agree, that is a difficult age and I admire you VOLUNTEERING to do it :) Great job, Carrie, I am sure you are an enormous blessing and a great example to each of them.

You will never know the impact you are having on their lives that will stick with them for a lifetime! Not only a blessing for you, but for them as well. Cute pic! Thanks for commenting about your little guy...makes ours seem more normal! Ha! :) Have a great day!

Yes! I just love working with the youth at church. My husband and I co-teach the middle school class on Sunday mornings, and we so enjoy it! Our church has done some major schedule/activity switching, and I now have praise team rehearsal at the same time as our class. This means I'm only with our class about twice a month now. I feel like I'm missing out on so much, but I'm not willing to give up singing, either.

If your kids go to youth camp, will you be going as a sponsor? That's always the highlight of the year for the kids, and it's when we seem to get to know them the best.

Carrie - this is such a cute photo! I'm so glad you can be part of this and am reminded of the Proverb, "He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."

Good Job, Carrie:

I remember the days when I led Young Women's Auxiliary at our church. Your Mom & Aunts were very small then, but I loved working with the young women. I have many happy memories of those days.

Keep up the good work!

Cute picture, too!

Love you, Grandma

I'm so glad I had an automatic e-mail that you posted on my old Frugal Luxuries post (it is one of my all time favorite how-to books).

I love your recipes, will be back to copy a couple. :)
