Michigan trip, part 1

Our time away was truly relaxing. Eric's parents own a cottage on a lake in western Michigan, and it's a wonderful family destination. Nathan's grandparents were more than eager to spend time with him, and I actually read 2 magazines and 1 1/2 books! My current reading pace is about a book a month, so it was really nice to have more time for that.

We arrived on the 4th of July, just in time to help decorate for the lake's annual patriotic boat parade!

Nathan loved riding on the boat, and helping Grandpa drive. He also had fun "too-BING" (tubing) with Dad. In the last couple weeks, Nathan's hair has lightened and it's also gotten more curly--really cute.

There were many fun activities to choose from, including jumping on the trampoline with Grandma!

More photos to come tomorrow . . .

So glad you had a wonderful and relaxing time! I know Nathan did too - hope he will have fun with his cousins next week! He probably won't know what hit his house when our entourage arrives! :)
Talk to you later this morning,
Monica

Looks like you had a great time! What lake is it? My family is all from Michigan (the western side) and so I get back there frequently. I worked at a camp for two summers right along Little Silver Lake near Mears, MI too.

Nathan is becoming cuter by the day!

What a nice vacation spot! Nathan is adorable. I know I don't really know him, but it's hard to believe how much he has grown since I first started visiting your blog!

These are such "Michigan" pictures! I think the many a West Michiganders have lake cottages, boats, and join in a 4th of July boat parade! It's a way of life up here! I missed all the 4th of July festivities up here (having a festivity of labor instead!) but loved looking at your pics...glad you enjoy our state!

Oh Carrie, he's just adorable. I love that age! I can't believe mine are both so old already. I have to borrow my friends' babies and toddlers to get my "fix" now.

FUN! Spending time on the lake (any lake) is so relaxing for me. I'm glad you tried kayaking. My dad has one but we didn't get to take it out last week. I think it sounds really fun!
