Here is my list for September 22-December 20 (which happens to be Nathan's 2nd birthday!), keeping it real like I did last year by starting with 6 books so I can add more if appropriate and feel even better about my reading accomplishments!
- Shepherds Abiding by Jan Karon (I don't want this series to end!)
- Cleaning Up the Clutter by Emilie Barnes
- The Girlfriends' Guide to Toddlers by Vicki Iovine (and I'll probably re-read at least some of the pregnancy guide, too)
- Cheaper and Better by Nancy Birnes
- What is a Family? by Edith Schaeffer
- The Simple Living Guide by Janet Luhrs
So there you have it--my fall reading titles. I'm sure I'll review most of these as I go along, which adds to the motivation and the fun of learning since I seem to gravititate towards non-fiction these days. To make my list more well-rounded, I think I need to add another fiction book, and probably something by a male author to be a little more balanced in that aspect--any suggestions?
Happy reading, everyone! (You can read tons of other fall book lists here.)

Shepherd's Abiding is my favorite Mitford book - I hope you enjoy it! Looks like a great list of titles - enjoy!
Monica
PS: Thinking of you this morning!
Great list! I'll look forward to reading your reviews as they come along. :)
The annual fall community reading program is underway here. There are two books this year -- "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck and "The Worst Hard Time" by Timothy Egan (both about the Great Depression and Dust Bowl days).
Love you, Mom
Hey Carrie - a Tyndale book that people around here are really supporting (and Nicole recently did a review of) is "Dogwood" by Chris Fabry. I haven't read it but want to at some point. I can lend it to you if you're interested.
Another fantastic book is "Riven" by Jerry Jenkins. A lot of people are avoiding it because of his tie to Left Behind, but this is a solo stand-alone book that is incredibly powerful. You could check out the Amazon reviews for some more details. It's a huge book though. Again, I can lend it to you at some point.
Have a great day!
looks like a great, doable list. i have had the cheaper and better book for years and use it often. the simply living book looks good, i should see if our library has it. i may even join this group this time around. if i do, i'll probably have the shortest list out there! hee hee
How fun! All these look like great titles. I've been reading up a storm lately (2 books a week!) in anticipation of a month or two with no time. Keep us updated on how you like them!
I absolutely love The Simple Living Guide! It's one of my favorite non-fiction books. Lots of insight.
I'm between books right now. I'm hoping my Amazon shipment arrives today because I have the newest book in The Gospel According to Larry series, which is a teen series and not biblical, but thought-provoking nonetheless.
If my shipment doesn't arrive, I may have to try the Mitford series. I trust your judgement on that one.
Hi Carrie! I am reading In this Mountain (from the Mitford series), the No Cry Sleep Solution, The Baby Book, Cut the Clutter and Stow the Stuff, and The Handbook of Nature Study. I love the Mitford series, too! :)
I'm so excited to read some new great books too...I haven't decided which ones, but when I do, I'll try to post. :-)
I just went to the library and checked out Shepherd's Abiding. I'm looking forward to reading it!! Thanks for the suggestions!
Looks good! I would probably benefit from reading the clutter book. :) Thanks for being part of Fall Into Reading '08!
My birthday is Dec. 20th, too! But I'm older than 2. LOL
