The fall fashion challenge!

Our weather's turned much cooler this past week, and thus I've been pulling my long sleeves out of hibernation. The problem is that my wardrobe is feeling a little uninspired. I'm definitely a basics kind of girl: I have crewneck tees in a rainbow of colors, and in winter, my uniform consists of a tee, a cardigan and comfy jeans or khakis.

Eric and I garner a little "fun money" each month ($10 apiece), and I've been saving it for awhile. Today I decided that it would be really fun to add one or two new pieces to my closet. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to clothes (see first paragraph for winter wardrobe description!), and I'm also not a big fan of browsing when I don't have something specific in mind. So that's where you come in. I'm asking you to window shop for me!

Here are the specs:
*You scour the Internet for fabulous long-sleeved shirts, and leave me a comment (or send me an e-mail) with the link to and description of one you think I would like. As a hint, I tend to like stuff from here and here. (I rarely shop for new clothes, so I can assure you I'm not familiar with their current styles if you choose to suggest something from either place.)
*The shirt must be modest (not a fan of low necklines!), less than $30 (under $20 is even better!) and versatile. (My favorite stuff coordinates with both jeans and khaki/olive pants.)
*I will accept comments on this post until 1:00 CST on Friday (September 4).
Friday night, I will select and order a shirt from among the recommendations. To show my appreciation for your style assistance, I will send the person who made the winning suggestion a $10 gift card to the store from which the winning item came.
Thanks--I can't wait to check out your ideas!

How fun!

This color made me think of you - it's a fancier version of the solid tee.

A new cardigan in a fun color would go well with all of your basics. I'm thinking the purple :)

Happy shopping in the big city, friend!

Oooh, I like this challenge!

Okay, argyle is very in this fall. And I adore argyle, so I'm all over it! I've already bought one sweater from JC Penney this year, and I'm going to throw you a link towards that: (I'm probably going to buy at least one more. Did I mention that I love argyle?)

If you want to stick with your 2 stores, Old Navy has some argyle, too:

Colorful, interesting, fashionable. There ya go!

If you want something dressier, there's this:

Okay, I have two choices for you. The first one is simple, but fits you so well.....and it comes in green!

The second one just screamed Carrie to me.....tell me I'm wrong?!?!

They are both cute, so I don't mind which one you pick, just let me know when I win. ;) J/K

It's not a shirt, it's a sweater, but it's 14.99. I think you would like lots of stuff from Eddie Bauer. DEFINITELY check out the clearance section on their page!

This is my pick for you:

This shirt is extremely comfortable, versatile, and stylish. You can tuck it in or leave it out. Wear it with a skirt, shorts, jeans, slacks, or chino-style pants. I chose pink for you since it looks great with jeans, kahki and olive pants. A gray, black or navy cardigan would complete your look.

This was fun! I found a lot of shirts I'd like to get for myself, so it's a good thing I looked online instead of actually in the store!

I e-mailed you my suggestions to the e-mail address associated with your profile. Hopefully you got it!

I'm debating ordering some of these for myslef..they look so cute and they are modest and support a company that promotes modest clothing so that's good! It doesn't hurt that they are on sale either. Hope you find something cute. I just stocked on super plain comfy solid colored t-shirts at Kohls. :-) You can't go wrong with them!

What a fun idea! Here is my suggestion:

I personally liked the purple stripe or the brown stripe options. Still a long sleeved t-shirt, but with a little twist to it. :) And, it's on sale for only $10! Have fun shopping!

Hi Carrie,

My most all time favorite long sleeve t is the Gap's 'favorite tee'. I know it's not one of your usual stores but it's worth taking a look at. They are solid, simple and classic. My black one has been dressed up like your wouldn't believe. Here's the link:

Good Luck!

(ps. they're on sale for $12.50)

When I first read your post, I asked myself why we never shopped together. (We have the same theory when it comes to clothing.) Then I realized that precisesly why we didn't shop together. Ha! Who wants to shop when any comfy tee will do?

Old Navy and Kohls are my two favorites also. Before we left, I bought 2 of the long sleeve stripped shirts at Old Navy that Molly suggested. They're great!

I also found this at Kohls Ok, just kidding. I thought I had found a winner with that one.

But really, this one is at Kohls too It looks comfy and simple, like a tee but has a bit dressier look. I also don't think it's one that needs ironing!

Have fun choosing. :)

Why not check out Lands End and LLBean, especially their sale sections, for great quality, classic clothing?

How about this to add some pattern:

Or this for a slightly different style than a tee?

You can get free shipping from Lands End with this code:
