10 on the 10th!

I've been wanting to participate in Mer's monthly celebration of lists called 10 on the 10th, but I've never been prepared when that date rolls around. I thought the first 10th of the year 2010 would be an appropriate time to join the fun. Plus, I found some funny "material"--I came across a list I made in junior high of names I wanted to give my future children. What a hoot! I had written down several combinations of first and middle names; even better, I also wrote down the origin of each name (what an English major!)

My list took up an entire notebook page. How many kids did I think I would have, anyway? Oh, well. Without further adieu, here is the list of 10 names (5 girl, 5 boy) I liked back in the day:
  1. Kierra Aspen (I remember thinking this would be the coolest name! Kierra means "sun" in Persian.)
  2. Anna Delisa
  3. Ariel Brooke
  4. Samantha Kate
  5. Jessica Michelle
  6. Tyler Jordan
  7. Adam Eric (!)
  8. Hunter Daniel
  9. Brian Scott
  10. Justin Joel
How about you? Did you daydream about your future kids' names, even when you were a kid yourself? And has your taste in names changed like mine has? Check out Mer's blog for other fun "10" lists.

=D ha! What a fun list. My list of names that I like the sound of hasn't really changed. The problem is that as I got older and my world expanded, I met too many people (that I didn't like) who had names that I did! =D So scratch, scratch, off the list they go! Still, I've consistently liked the name Peter and thankfully haven't run into anyone who would force me to pause that thought!

Those are actually great names. Love some of those girls names. Did you use any of them for your your real kids?

That IS fun, Carrie! Thanks for sharing. Some of my potential names, John has 'scratched' because of former youth kids. But we don't have to worry about picking names at this point. Another fun topic would be wedding plans when you were in junior high. I know I had some pretty elaborate ideas that are just laughable now!

That's fun. I can't believe you saved that list! I probably have a list saved, but would never be able to find it! :)

I think my top girl name back in the day was Crystal. Clearly my tastes have changed.

That's fun! I remember the Kierra Aspen one - and I think it is a hoot that mom was going to name me Brian Scott if I was a boy and you have that name on your list.

Emily Rose was always a top on my list.

Love you,
Monica

I love that you saved your list! I don't think I saved my kid-naming list, but I remember I loved Taylor and Tyler, growing up. Didn't name my kids that, but still... :)

Also, I used to envision how my house would be decorated. Let's just say...I was way off.

That's cool you kept that list! Those names are good. I have no idea what I would have named my kids back then. I remember my dolls were named "Cynthia" a lot:)

How fun that you keep the list! I certainly dreamed up names for my future children. I remember Ashley Elizabeth being on the list. My taste in names has changed some. I have a Megan Li and if I ever have another little girl I would name her Grace.

Great list, I have one too but don't remember any.

We have friends who have a daughter named Jordan Tyler (the dad's middle name is Tyler and first name starts with a J). :)

What a fun list! I can't believe you still had it.

This is my first visit to your blog...I've enjoyed reading!

I remember when you talked about these names back when. In fact, when you were expecting Natalie -- I remembered the name Kierra Aspen and wondered if you would consider it. :) Fun list -- love, Mom

My list is packed away in a trunk back in the states but I can tell you the list of baby names includes several names of boys I had crushes on in jr high. Hahaha! Joel was definitely on my list. :)

Well, at least you didn't embarrass yourself and write LAST names on your list. ;)

Yes, I used to name my future children too. Odd, isn't it? I was certain that I wanted a son named Hunter but my husband would NOT buy it. In fact, he vetoed so many of my choices that I spent a lot of my first pregnancy in tear thinking my child wouldn't leave the hospital with a name we could agree on.

This was a really fun idea for a ten on the tenth list! Don't you love finding little treasures from your past like that?

I honestly can't remember any of the names I came up with. Moot anyway, as I wound up not having any children. However, I do recall being in love with the name Carrie when I was really little. Even named my Holly Hobbie doll that. Thought you'd appreciate that. ;-)

I don't remember the names on my list but I'm CERTAIN my actual children's names were not on there! I think I had 80's names like Tiffani and Brittany!

That's cute. My names changed alot and we also ended up using a family name that I would never have had on my list - I love it, it is just not very common so I never thought of it.
